Show TELEVISION ! SNOW Couldn't say what the outcome will be but indications are that through several long distance calls and a fast plane trip to Salt Lake City Tuesday morning by Art Higbee, KSUB must have have something up its sleeve. We'll likely hear of It Friday night at City Council meeting. Trans Community Television Network, Inc., has been represented represent-ed in this area this past week and at the meeting Saturday evening by the president of the organization. organiza-tion. He Is Jerome L. Doff, who resides in southern California. He is following the project here and it is understood will remain until un-til after the council meeting Frl-doy Frl-doy evening. Don't know how many pcopJe have seen the TV programs being shown by the TCTV from their mobile unit In front of the Southern South-ern Utah Power Co., but suggest that anyone who wants to see what the company has to offer In picture clarity and some of the suggested programs take in the set In the lobby of Hotel El Es- calante. A lot of people would be surprised sur-prised to find out the extent of Investigations being conducted by our City Council regarding the propositions of TV in our fair city. When the council was first approached by the Escalante Valley Val-ley Service Corp. for franchise rights the council postponed action ac-tion pending Investigation of the proposed plan. Last week when the TCTV people applied for easement rights another extensive exten-sive Investigation was undertaken. undertak-en. The reaction from this Investigation Inves-tigation from the people connected connect-ed with TCTV was "flabbergasting" "flabbergast-ing" to say the least. In addition to the Investigation of the companies involved in the current TV rights battle, the council has spent considerable time Investigating community antenna systems' and other types of "TV operations In similar areas all over the United States. It can be said, and without reservations, that the council by Friday night will know all that is possible in the space of time, regarding the proposed TV programs. Some question has arisen, apparently ap-parently as to whether or not Escalante Es-calante Service Corp. has obtained obtain-ed the right to transmit the KSL-TV KSL-TV signal. We saw last week a letter signed by Jay W. Wright, vice president of the KSL. KSL-TV KSL-TV Radio Service Corporation of Utah, authorizing the E S C to use the signal. The letter was dated July 14, 1955 and read in part, "On the basis of the above understanding, we are happy to advise you that you may use the signals of KSL-TV, it being understood that such an authorization authori-zation is not an exclusive one." Another note from the ESC Is a letter signed by John Row-berry Row-berry and directed to Mayor Arnold Ar-nold Anderson and dated Wednesday. Wed-nesday. It read as follows: "It is my understanding that City attorney is now in process of draflng agreement for television televis-ion service with TCTV and ESC. "I therefore request that you submit, via return receive requested, re-quested, a copy directly to our atorneys, Mr. Maurice Barnes, Musey Building, Washington. D. C., and also copy to Harold C.Mne of Mllford. "We would need reasonable time for study. "Meanwhile we will be glad to meet with council whenever necessary to bring television questions to conclusion." Might be pointed out that if this request is recognized no action ac-tion could take place Friday night, reference, third paragraph of letter (We would need reasonable reason-able time for study). |
