LEATHE One of the newcomers to the visiting faculty for the summer session at College of Southern Utah is A. A. Leathe, San Francisco, Fran-cisco, Instructor in dance. A I. j f' - J j i X . I I ' j i JENIEL REEVES The course given by Mr. Leathe entitled Creative Dance for Children, Chil-dren, will be open to children six to twelve years of age. This course will supplement two other oth-er courses given during the summer sum-mer session by Miss Jeniel Reeves, a member of the resident faculty fac-ulty at CSU. She will offer a course in elementary modern dance for high school and college col-lege students, and another In elementary modern dance for adults. Mr. Leathe Is on a summer's leave of absence from the Hal-prln-Lathrop Foundation In San Francisco. In addition to his full-time full-time duties here as instructor ol creative dance for children and movement education and dance technique for adults, he is performing per-forming with the Halprln Lath-rop Lath-rop Dance Group directed by Welland Lathrop, and working with Ann Halprln In her exploration explor-ation In the field of dance Improvisation. Im-provisation. The visiting instructor In dance has had wide experience alsc in the field of dance therapy and psychodrama. He was one of the volunteer workers In the pioneer experiments with the use of movement' and psycho-drama psycho-drama in group therapy at Men-dota Men-dota State Hospital under Dr Thelma Hruza and Max Smith He has taught dance In a recreational capacity to menta! patients. Besides his Interest in dance Mr. Leathe Is also a biologist having received his B.A. and M A. degrees in biology at University Univer-sity of Virginia and Mountain Lake Biological Station. He was a member of the faculty at Un Iverslty of Wisconsin where he served as botany instructor until his main Interest turned tc dance. |
