Show Heart Attack Proves Fatal to Merton Richards, 54 Mrs. Eva Bennett of Parowan received word late Monday of the death of her son, Merton Richards, Rich-ards, 54, who died that day in El Monte, California, where he has resided for the past 13 years. Details are lacking, but we are told that Mr. Richards died from a heart attack suffered that day. He suffered a lighter attack almost al-most two months ago, we are told. Funeral services will be held in El Monte this Thursday, afternoon after-noon with a large number of relatives rel-atives to be in attendance from here. Mr. Richards was born in Parowan Par-owan on April 24, 1901, a son of Clarence and Eva Whitney Richards, and received his early education here. He was a member mem-ber of the first graduating class of the Parowan High School in 1920 and drew up the plans for the Letter "P" pn the hill. He fulfilled ful-filled a mission for the L D S church in Old Mexico soon after graduating from high school. He was married to Alice Taylor of Salt Lake City in the Salt Lake Temple and came to Parowan to live shortly after. He was employed em-ployed by the Utah Parks Co. for a number of years or until the family moved to California in 1942, where they have lived since. Surviving are his mother of Parowan; two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Judy) Graham, and Mrs. Vince (Catherine) Bramlett, and a son, Merton, Jr., and four grandchildren, all of El Monte, Calif. Those who went from here to attend the funeral were Mrs. Eva Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. W. Scott Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Benson Haycock, Mr. and Mrs. Kent W. Mitchell, and Samuel J. Whitney. |
