Show Businessmen Award Scholarships ai Convocation At the annual Awards Convocation Convo-cation of the College of Southern Utah, held at the new Library lounge Sunday afternoon, 36 scholarship awards to the college col-lege and 10 special scholarships to other institutions of higher learning were announced, according ac-cording to A. W. Stephenson, who was In charge of the event. The 36 scholarship presentations presenta-tions were divided among 10 departments de-partments of the college with the agriculture department receiving 10 of the awards The scholarships, the recipient and the donor, in that order, are listed as follows according to the department: AGRICUL TURE: Agriculture Economics, Dennis Huntsman, Safeway Stores; Agriculture Research, Re-search, Don Rasmussen, Safeway Stores; Dairy Production, Rex Sandberg, Arden Sunfreze Dairy: Fruit Production, Scott Hlrschi, Mulr, Roberts and Burningham: Granger Leigh Livestock Award, Richard Webster, Mrs. Beth Leigh; Livestock, Jack Nlelson, Bank of Southern Utah; Livestock Live-stock Production, Cleve Esplin. Clover Club Foods Co.; Poultry Production, Boyd Snow, Utah Poutry Assn.; Range Management, Manage-ment, Milo Jean Hassell, L. M. Jones Equipment Co., and Soil, Kenneth R. Gouldlng, Bank of Southern Utah. ATHLETICS: three awards given, giv-en, Bob Davis, Bulloch Drug Store; Kenneth Benson, Premium Oil Co., and Bill Meador, Corner Market. DRAMATICS: Rainbow Theatre Guild scholarship, Stephen Ro-zelle, Ro-zelle, presented by the guild. EDUCATION: Elementary Edu-cation, Edu-cation, four awarded; Eugene Holman and Carolyn Black, given by Bacea Club; Helen Tuft, C S U Alumni Association, and Sonya Nlelson, Cedar City. Chamber of Commerce. HOME ECONOMICS: Foods and Nutrition, Thelma Joan Evans, Cedar Frozen Foods; Home Economics Eco-nomics scholarship, Enone Matt-son, Matt-son, Culligan Soft Water Service; Textiles and Clothing, Patsy Bridges, Stevens Company. INDUSTRY AND TRADES: Three Building Construction awards, Gilbert M, Sorenson, Cedar Ce-dar Lumber and Hardware Co.; Harold G. The University of Utah Scholarship awards went to Dan M. SmUh and Rodney Erick-son. Erick-son. Utah State Agricultural College announced three scholarship awards to Charles L. Craw, Clair G. Farnsworth and Dale Workman. Work-man. KSUB scholarship In Radio and Speech to C S U was awarded award-ed to Ronnie Mclntyre, and the Thorley Motor Athletic Scholar-sip Scholar-sip award went to Jerry Frame. This also is to be used at CSU. Special recognition for 1954-55 athletic awards was given to Warren Bulloch, Vaughan Guzel-Ian, Guzel-Ian, George "Buck" Young, Her-schell Her-schell Neeley and Morgan Rollo. |
