Levie recently joined the Vernal National Guard unit as the full time motor sergeant. He replaces S-Sgt John Riggs who resigned. Sgt. Levie moved from Salt Lake City and has purchased a small farm in Myton, where he resides with his wife and four sons. Sgt. Levie was born in Westfield, Massachusetts where he lived and attended the public schools. He started his military career by joining the Marines in 1942 during World War II. After the war ended, he joined the Merchant Marines and then later joined the Air Force where he stayea until 1953. From 1953 until 1971 he was self employed in Kearns as an owner-operator owner-operator of a service station. From 1971 to the present, he has been with the Army National Guard in Salt Lake. The Vernal unit welcomes Sgt. Levie and hopes he enjoys his new location and employment in the basin. Right now he is busily preparing for summer camp and becoming oriented with the unit, men and equipment. The Vernal unit will leave Saturday for Camp Williams, where they will undergo two weeks of training. |
