Show Xi Alpha Xi makes two tour stops Xi Aphla Xi sorority chapter met April 21 in the home of City Council Representative, Pat Searle. The sixteen members present were intrigued and expressed pleasure with the idea of two stops along the "Grand Tour" for the cultural program of the evening. Juanita Oden narrated a brisk trip through Brazil, the fifth largest larg-est country in the world. She shared facts, as well as personal ideas of this country, with a terrain of mountains, plains and deserts. Pat Searle surprised members as she introduced the Carribbean Islands with a native dance. She and her husband Jay recently toured the islands. Pat displayed personal photos depicting beautiful scenery and year round climate of 79 to 83 degrees. She also enthralled members by modeling the native attire. Preceeding the program, vice president Carolyn Johnson conducted the business meeting. Members were introduced to the idea of "Original Cultural Programs" for the 1980-81 year, with ideas and a theme to be presented at the next regular meeting. Excitement abounded as members cast secret ballots for their selection of the 1980 "Girl of the Year" for the chapter. This honor will be revealed at the upcoming Founder's Day Banquet. A special service project was reviewed and members unanimously agreed to support the idea of a memorial for Mrs. Thorne. Business concluded and a social hour followed. The next meeting will be May 5 and officers for the 1980-81 year will be installed. |
