Show Sara, Gorn reports n federal problems ev Ctember meet Sen. Jake Garn (Utah-R) told the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce at its annual meeting Friday, "We need the MX missile, but how do we base it? I do not like the race track method, there are alternative basing modes such as split basing and upright basing that are better." "The economy is in critical condition and there is need for balancing the budget, but the dues are too high the way the present U.S. budget is being balanced. We need deep expenditure cuts to cut down government growth and we need tax cuts to stimulate business, but Congress can't be trusted to cut the U.S. budget," Garn pointed out. , Concerning inflation Garn said "We must use long-range Dlans to curb inflation in-flation instead of so many short-term fixes." On the Sagebrush Rebellion Garn said, "we don't expect to get the federal lands back but the movement is a good educational project to show the eastern states the problems the western states face with so much federal lands. "Federal administration and paperwork should be cut 10 percent right across the board," Garn stated. "Foreign aid budgets are ripe for cutting." In conclusion Garn said, "The best way to solve the MX missile employment em-ployment would be to mount it on an Am-Trak train, give Russia the timetable for scheduled trips, and they would never be able to find it."
