Show Ingusry plcogued Utes drop eBicounfleir tfo Murray Uintah High School's boy track team captured three first places and eleven second places, but that wasn't enough as they were defeated by the Murray Spartans in Vernal, Monday, 88 to 50. Uintah has an overall record of 1-2. The Utes placed first in the Palisade Invitational. In-vitational. The Ute track team was without Kay Smuin and Rick Morton who were out with injuries. The Utes captured first, second and third in the high jump and in the pole vault. Uintah's Dave Emery pocketed first place in the javelin with a toss of 176' and Mike Johnson placed first in the high jump at 5'4". Kenny Page netted second place in the high jump at 5'4" and Lance Workman nabbed third place at 5'0". Kenny Page nabbed first place in the pole vault at 9'. Also placing in the pole vault for Uintah were: Brian Long, second, 7'6" and Randy Smuin, third, 7'6". Brent Hales pocketed second place in the javelin at 163'1". Ron Ellis -captured two second places for the Uintah Utes in the 110 high hurdles at 15.6 and in the 100 meter dash at 11.88. Jerry Allred placed second in the 1600 meter run at 4:42 and pocketed second place in the 3200 meter run at 10:53. Dave Emery nabbed second place in the shot put with a toss ' of 42'2". Roger Griffin pocketed second place in the discus at 134'3'V. Uintah placed second in the 400 meter relay at 46.29 and in the 1600 medley relay at 3:58.9. Mike Johnson netted third place in the 400 meter run at 54.0 and Randy Smuin placed third in the 300 intermediate in-termediate hurdles at 44.4 Lynn Reynolds placed third in the 100 at 11.98. Gary Watkins nabbed third place in the 800 meter run. Mike Johnson placed third in the 200 meter run at 24.25 and Kenny Page picked up third place honors in the long jump at 18'0". Murray's Chris James garnered , three first places in the 1600 meter run, 4:40; 800 meter run, 2:02.7 and 3200 meter run, 10:15.3. Graves nabbed first place in the 200 meter run, 23.63 and in the 400 meter run at 51.84. Housel won three first place titles in the 100 meter dash, 11.62; discus, 135'8M" and long jump, 19'5". Ashton nabbed first place in the 110 high hurdles at 15.4 and tied for first place in the 300 intermediate hurdles with Dudlev at 44.1. Kessimakis placed first in the shot put with a toss of 48'9'4". Murray also nabbed first place in the 1600 meter relay, 3:53.3-medley 3:53.3-medley relay, 3:52.3 and in the meter relay, 46.26. Uintah will compete in the Re Seven sophomore meet in Magn; Cyprus High School, Thursday. Utes will take part in the Brig Young University Invitatic Saturday and will compete in Region Seven Meet, May 8. The State Track Meet is set for May l and 18. |
