Show UNCLE SJUUI'SlUIEH , PAY BIG TRIBUTE Order U. S. Tire Equipment for First Motorcycle Patrol Troop. Tiie new Motorcycle Machine Gun company com-pany of the Seventy-first New York infantry, in-fantry, which has just left for McAllen, Tex., has seventy-one motorcycles, all of which arc equipped with United States Chain Tread tires. Martin C. Stokes, manager of the motorcycle mo-torcycle tire department of the United States Tire company, when asked to comment on the reasons given for specifying speci-fying United States tires, said: Captain Schroeder, who is a former ofilrer of the regular army, told me that in picking the tires for his machine ma-chine gun company, he chose the casings cas-ings that he felt would stand up best under the sever conditions they would meet along the Texas border. The captain" states that lie expected to have his company assigned to patrol work, and that he specified "chain" treads because he felt that they would withstand rough going over tho Texas trails better than any other tires made. It has always been my contention that our tires are unbeatable for general gen-eral road work. You know, E. G. Baker broke all the Australasian road records from one to 1000 miles on our tires. Jacobs, winner of the recent re-cent Jack Pines run, used our tires, too. Possibly these facts Influenced Captain Schroeder in his selection. Captain Schroeder has also specified United States Nobby Treads for the four officers' cars which will be attached to his machine gun company. |
