Numerous charges against attorneys and state officers, as well as the supreme court of the state, are contained in a somewhat indefinite affidavit filed in the district court today by James S. Cantwell, 2754 Park avenue, ave-nue, in an effort to bring about the disbarment dis-barment of John D. Murphy, an Ogden attorney, and George Q. Rich, an attorney attor-ney of Logan. According to attaches of the local courts, the case against Rich was disposed of by dismissal in the supreme su-preme court several years ago. In the latest proceedings the petitioner has prepared his own papers, which contain con-tain statements difficult of understanding. understand-ing. Cantwell 's grievance dates back ten years, when he; had a case against the Thatcher Brothers Banking Company of Logan. He retained Mr. Rich as his attorney and later declared that his counsel had played him false. After instituting disbarment proceedings proceed-ings in the supreme court Cantwell was advised to have an attorney draw the necessary papers. He retained Attorney Murphy for this task, and a few days ago filed an affidavit m the district court starting disbarment proceedings against the Ogden man. Today Cantwell filed another affidavit or communication, making the Rich case also a part of the Murphy proceedings. Deputies in the clerk's office declared today that they were at loss to understand the proceeding. proceed-ing. The petitioner paid the customary filing fee and the papers were included in the day 's record. |
