Show INTEREST 15 HIGH Every Assurance Given That Pike's Peak Test Will Be Success. That, the Pike's peak hill-climbing contests con-tests to be run over America's most famous mountain course, the Pike's peak auto highway, August 10, 11 and 12, will surpass any hill climb ever held In America Amer-ica is practically assured by the interest being shown in the affair by motor-car makers and racing pilots. From all parts of the country entiles are beginning to pour Into the offices of E. A. Sunderlln, president of the Pike's peak auto highway, high-way, and before the entry list Is finally closed it is expected that no less than thirty cars will be nominated for competition. compe-tition. M. W. -Colweil, manager of the climb, who is now in Colorado Springt. Colo., arranging the details, announced yesterday yester-day that he has secured the entry of the Wisconsin special which has been performing per-forming well in the middle west. The car is entered by Otto Leisy. a Cleveland millionaire, who has nominated James Weir as driver. Another new( entry is that of a Briscoe "eight." A number of other entries have just been made by manufacturers of prominent makes of cars, but thest, are being withheld awaiting await-ing official announcement. Among the "dark horses" are three cars of one make and two of another, both very prominent, who have not been seen in competition for some years. Some of the other entries en-tries to date Include threo Cadillacs, three Hudson "super-sixes," a Studebaker special spe-cial and a Peugeot. It is expected that three Crawford cars, to bo driven by Lewis, Johnson and Chandler; a fast Duesenberg racer, two Haynes cars, a Romano car from Seattle, Wash., and several Kings will be entered shortly. The Pike's peak course measures twelve miles, 2200 foot up the side of the mountain, and in o:-der to negotiate this climb to the summit of the mountain cars will have to conquer a ripe of over a mile. The maximum grade Is 10.5 per cent and the average grade is 7 per cent. There are a number of severe turns in the course, and driving skill will play an important im-portant part. , Chester S.
