Show NEWSPAPER OFFICE ATTACKED BY BOMBS Plant of Anti-catholic Publication Pub-lication at Aurora, Mo., Is Damaged. SPRI.VGFIF.LD, Mo., July 29. Three bombs exploded beneath the floor of the .Menace publishing plant at Aurora, Mo., at 4:15 o 'clock this morning, e tightly damaged the publishing company plant and set fire to a mass of copies of the Menace, an an ti-Catholic pu blication, just oil' the press. Tho iiames were soon ext ingui.-hed. From the manner in which the bombs were placed it is believed an attempt was, made to destroy all the publishing company 's presses. Work men began clearing away the wreckage shortly after the explosio'n and said the presses would be running again in a few hours. This week's issue of the Menace, dated A ugust n, carried several election articles. ar-ticles. Marioji Hrown, managing editor of the Menace, offered a reward of .$1000 for the arrest of the person responsible for the explosion. "The issue for the week of August 5 was on the press and had been running since yesterday at noon, ' ' said Mr. Drown. ' We will insert tho offer of reward in the remainder of the issue and hope to continue mailing this afternoon. after-noon. ' Mr. Brown said the Menace had received re-ceived many' threatening letters, but thero had boen no direct threat to destroy de-stroy the plant. He estimated the damage dam-age 'would not exceed $1000. The Menace is housed in a two-story brick structure, 100 by 100 feet in dimensions. |
