DUCHESNE NINE WINS FROM BASIN CLUBS Special to The Tribune. VERNAL. July 29. Playing with precision, the Duchesne baseball nine captured three straight games at the recent Roosevelt celebration, and took home the purse of J200. Tills makes a grand' total of 5500 in purses which the Duchesne team has won, and proves beyond a doubt that they I are the best "money" team In the basin. The first game of the aeries, which included all the teams of the Uinta Basin baseball league, I was between the Duchesne team and the Indians. Duchesne won without much trouble by a score of 13 to 4. In the eighth inning the Indians, who had Iwen disputing decisions throughout, objected ob-jected to a decision and left the field. Roosevelt and Myto then took the field, and Jack Calvert of My ton pitched the best game, of j his career when he whiffed twenty Roosevelt batters in nine innings. This record has never ' been equaled in the basin. His teammates swat- 1 ted the ball at varions times and accumulated a j total of seven runs, the final being 7 to 0. The best game of the entire series was between ! the Vernal and Duchesne teams. For eight Innings In-nings the teams were nip and tuck, Vernal lead- : ing at tlmei and then Duchesne leading. At the end of the eighth tho Bcore was 3 to 2 In favor of : Duchesne. in the ninth, errors on the part of Vernal let In four runs and the final wae 7 to j 3 in favor of Duchesne. In tho final game for thet big purse Duchesne I hooked up with My ton in what proved to be a ! regular swatfest. Myton scored four times the ! first Inning. Duchesne (came back with five, j Duchesne then scored four times fn the second, and from then on the result was never in doubt! The next big celebration will bo held in Myton My-ton on Labor day. AH the league teams will then compete in the final series of the season.
