For tho first time in years Salt Lake City b entirely free from scarlet fever and diphtheria, according to the weekly report of tho board of health. During tho week no cason wore reported and none 1b under quarantine. Only fourteen cases of contagious and Infectious dlscasos were reported, and of this number four were typhoid, eight whooping cough, bne smallpox and one measles. Tho number of cases of contagious con-tagious diseases reported In tho lowest for any week In tho last four years. with the exception of typhoid fever, of which there are now forty-two cases under quarantine, tho city is practically free from disease, a condition that gives rise to more than ordinary optimism because of the fact that the public schools open next week.
