Show QUEER IS SELECTED B SUMMIT C001W Maids of Honor Also Chosen for Carnival of Counties Coun-ties at Fair. Summit county has taken tho lead in the selection of a queon and maids of honor to ropresout the county in the grand "Carnival of Counties" which is to bo tho feature of tho oponing oxcr-cisos oxcr-cisos of the Utah state fair this year. At an enthusiastic uioeting hold in Park City the selections were made and committees appointed to arrange additional addi-tional representation for that county, which will includo a military band on "Summit county" day, and possibly a band to enter the musical contest aa well. Tho queen chosen is Miss Bolva McCormiek, and tho four maids of honor are Fern Lewis, Park City; Cora Paskctt. Ilonofer; Blanche Milncr, Peoa, and Nidu Allon, Coalville. Those girls are said 'to roprosont tho beauty of the county, and arc expected to become strong contenders in the utato-wido beaut' contest which will bo held in connection with the carnival. The county commissioners agreed to ajipro-pTiato ajipro-pTiato $90 toward the expenses or the queen and $75 for each of the four maids of honor. Davis county has als'o taken tho matter mat-ter up in earnest, and committees havo been appointed to ropresent every section sec-tion of the county in the oxhibitH and to provido somo plan for tho selection of the queon and maids. It is likely that a county contest will bo held. At Logan tho sclootiou for Caoho county is to be made through the medium of a boauty contost as a feature of the Cache county fair next month. Under this plan thero will bo a contest in which the entire county will participate. Box Elder county and Tooole county havo both taken favorable action, and. committees are now at work. At Ogden last night a meeting was held at tho Wobor club that started the ball rolling thoro, and will doubtless result in the most olaborate representation representa-tion Weber county has ever had at the state fair. |
