OCR Text COPPER OUTLOOK AS LONDON VIEWS IT Henry B. Merton & Co. of London, under un-der date of August 15, have the following to say In regard to tho copper situation: situa-tion: Notwithstanding the enormous purchases pur-chases of raw and refined copper on the part of manufacturers during the previous three weeks, the Inquiry from consumers continues on a remarkable re-markable scale, forcing holders to raise their prices further and further. Electrolytic copper, which was offering of-fering in the middle of July at 65, now fetches readily 73 and but very little is offering thereat, most producers pro-ducers bein? entirely sold for August and Septemocr shipment. The w'ay In which orders for manuv factured material are being placed now furnishes clear evidence of the fact that the many Important schemes which had been pigeon-holed during recent months of political and financial finan-cial stress are coming to light again nnd are assuring a copper consumption consump-tion for tho remainder of the year far larger than could have been anticipated an-ticipated a little while ago. In how far tho producers will be able to cope with this important demand is a question for serious consideration in view of the unceasing troubles with which they are faced. New York Produce. NEW YORK, Aug. 30. Flour, quiet. Wheat, spot, steady; No. 'I red, 94Sc; No. 1 northern Duluth, 07Jc; September, 9oc: December, 07 7-lGc. Hops, stead j'. Hides, firm. Petroleum, steiidy. Wool, steady.
