Mrs. John Windell of Granger, 63 years of ago, suffered injuries that may provo fatal, whon run down by an automobilo on Fourteenth South street, west of tho Redwood road, at 0 o'clock yesterday morning. The auto was driven driv-en by Charles Oppcnhcimor of 1218 East First South Btroot. Tho injured woman waB taken by Mr. Opponheimor in his car to tho ol-fico ol-fico of Dr. F. E. jtfcHugh, corner or Fourteenth South and Stato streets. From thero sho was immediatoly removed re-moved to tho county hospital and at-tonded at-tonded by Drs. McIEugh and 3. C. Snj'-dor. Snj'-dor. Sho was found to be suffering from a fracture of ono thigh bono, frao-turoB frao-turoB of Beveral ribs and "of the breast bono and an injury to tho lungs. Hor condition is regarded as criticaland little lit-tle hopo of recovery is entertained. Afr. Oppenheimer said that tho woman wom-an stepped from behind a wagon with a hay rack on it and his car was quickly quick-ly upon hor. The sotting of the brakes failed to stop tho machine in time to prevent tho accident. |
