Show LITTLE HOPE FOR ELDER BEN E. RICH Condition of President of Eastern States Mission Causes Friends Groat Alarm. Special to Tho Tribune. NEW YORK, Aug. 80. Ben E. Eich, prosidont of the eastern states mission of tho Mormon church, is suffering much pain and at times is unoonscious. Mrs. Ada Stark of Salt Lake, who received re-ceived Tho Tribune representative tonight, to-night, said that Mr. Rich hopod to go west in a day or two, but her tone be-tokoned be-tokoned a fear that it would nover bo. President Rich, on account of his sickness, has been relieved of his duties hero, pending the appointment of his successor. Apostlo George Albort Smith of Salt. Lake has assumed control of tho mission. Mr. Rich's condition is too critical for him to care for the missiou's affairs and the Salt Lako apostle will direct affairs until the church authorities solect a permanent successor to Mr. Rich. |
