THI3 "Dansat, " introduced here last winter by the Non-Sectarian Charity league in a moat delightful fashion, is to be revived during the coming season and made as much of a favorite hero as it is elsewhere. There is uo reason why local society should not enjoy this most delightfully informal of dancing affairs. East and west of Salt Lake the dancers have been holding revels in the way of afternoon aft-ernoon or tea dances, and it is at these affairs that the best dancing is seen aud the most graceful dancers shine. Incidentally it is at these that the newest steps are tried and developed. - THE melancholy days have surely j come, when the boys and girls be- gin to leave for schools and colleges in ihc east, and no matter how warm the weather remains, people realize that the summer is over. The week just opening will see many of the young poople gone, and, indeed, some have already left for their tasks. Miss Dorothy Dor-othy Bailey leaves tomorrow for the cast, and will resume her work at Vas-sar Vas-sar the middlo of the month. Miss Dorothy Marioneaux leaves later to continue her -work' there also. Miss Lucile Morningstar will leave next Friday Fri-day to begin her sophomore year ai Mount Holyoke. Miss Euth Spence and Miss Vivian Ellerbeck have already al-ready gone to Stanford. Others who will go to Stanford are Miss Margaret Merrill, Miss Charlotte Bothwoll, Miss Both Baldwin and Miss Ruth Cain. Smith will have a large Salt Lake delegation dele-gation this year, Miss Sadie Myers and Miss Laura Webber being in advanced ad-vanced classes and Miss Helen Greenwood, Green-wood, Miss Elsa Bamberger and Miss Mildred Tuttle entering as freshmon. Miss Zetha Hammer goes back shorty to the University of Kansas. IT is a comfort to have the subject of kiEsing so well discussed as it has been lately by professors and those supposed to know all or nearly all things. It is human nature, however, that even those learned people should disagree a trifle as to the valuer or the harm of kissing as a should one say pnstime7 No wonder one of the above noted says that kissing is harmful, aud the other steps forward, stops the press and orders the mistaken diagnosis cut out. Doubtless ho agrees "with the writer who says; "A microbe lingers in a kiss, they say: Yes, but ho nibbles in apleasant "way; .Rather than in the cup or telephone; Better to catch him kissing and be gay." SOME prying old university professor, profes-sor, "with a passion for gossip which he hides under the cloak of statistics, sta-tistics, has been looking into the makeup make-up box and has made some startling discoveries. Among other things -which he has heralded to a -waiting public is the fact that the makeup box (in. the aggregate, of course) contains tons of material. To every 100,000 women in the civilized civ-ilized world three-quarters of a ton of face powder, a half a ton of black and brown eyebrow pencils, 700 pounds of cold cream and 400 pounds of red lip pomade are sold dairy. And then the poor old soul has pulled his spectacles down ovor his nose and gathered his brows together for a frown and told the fair sex just how terrible it is io use makeup. Forgetting Forget-ting how many poor unkempt women Have bad complexions, ho attributes nil the ills of the skin to powder and paint. Forgetting all the soro lips which men have, he finds that all soro lips are due to the lip rouge used by women of fashion. And, moro than that, forgetting all the men who are bald, ho attributes all thinness of hair to the false hair worn by the woman. Failing to note all the men who have dyed beards and moustaches, mous-taches, he says all the colorless, luster, less hair is due to the hair dyes used by Hie "femalo of the species." The only conclusion one can come to ftvoro ay wovsoe stccc is that the poor old learned one has been very badly stung at some time in his ancient history, and that by a lady who perhaps penciled her eyebrows or rouged her lips, or maybe even touched up her rounded, peachy cheek. Few indeed1 are the men, even the gossipy ones, who would go so carefully into the subject unless a triflo of porsonal feeling lay back of the. study. MISS LOU UL-INE, who leaves this week to resume her studies in Leavenworth, was tho guest of honor during the past week at a number of' pleasant affairs in anticipation of her departure. A very enjoyable event was the tea given yesterday by Miss Mar-jorle Mar-jorle Haldon, at which about thirty of the young girls wore entertained in her honor.
