Hits for extra bases figured largely for Washington in winning both games of a double-header from Boston today, the first by a score of 4 to 1 and tho second a shutout, -1 to 0. In the first two Innings of the- first contest con-test two-baggers by Milan and Foster drove in all the visitors' runs. Bedlent settled down after these hlls had been mado and was very effective. Hooper, the only Boston player to get more than one hit off Engie, scored the local's only run In the sixth on a triple and an In-Held In-Held out. Leonard and Groom Were both batted hard In tho second game, but the Washington Wash-ington pitcher held Boston safe when the basos woro occupied. A double and a triple by Moellcr and two doubles by Henry drove three of tho visitors' runs across the plate. In three Instances during the game, when Washington had a man on second base, Gandll, who had made three singles sin-gles in the firat game, was purposely passed by Leonard. Gandll came to bat In the ninth Inning of the second contest con-test with two men on bases and Leonard struck the first baseman out on four pitched balls.
