Show Danish Folk Stories For Sons Of Pioneers The March meeting of Sons of Utah Piftpeers, South Davis Chapter, was held March 28 in the Pine Room of Servus Drug with 85 persons present and with Pres. Harold L. Pope conducting. SPECIAL GUESTS were Prof. Woodruff C. Thomson of BYU English Department and his daughter Ruth T. Simmons. Prof. Thomson was speaker of the evening. Mrs. Simmons had been dairy princess in 1966 when Pres. Pope was director of publicity for the Dairy Association which took dairy princesses, over the years, into public schools with special programs promoting health. Burns S. Hansen, first vice president and program chairman chair-man pro tern, gave a brief history of the life of a great-grandmother, great-grandmother, Mary Mag-dalena Mag-dalena Witzig, who was converted con-verted and baptized in the icy waters in Horgen, Switzerland Swit-zerland in 1867. ( PROF. THOMSON regaled the audience with Danish folk 1 stories centering around Ephraim and Sanpete Valley. These anecdotes brought back memories to those who formerly for-merly resided in that area. Coy and Aldin Hayward and their sister lived there in their younger days. |
