I CONGRESSMAN SPEAKS BOUNTIFUL - "We may : not like all the rules and laws : that we face each day, but they are there (or our : benefit," U.S. Congress Gunn McKay (D-Utah) told : Millcreek Jr. High students Friday. HE SAID that many motorists, mo-torists, especially truckers, don't like the SS miles per U.S. Congressman Gunn McKay (D-Utah) (D-Utah) spoke to two sessions of the Millcreek Junior High studentbody last week. He told students that laws are made for mankind and that the Constitution Consti-tution is a piece of paper only as good as those principles and ideals that are practiced hour speed limit but that the reduction in speed last year saved billions of gallons of fuel and saved more than 10,000 lives. "Laws that benefit some may upset others," he said. "Laws are not perfect, only as good as the people they serve." HE NOTED that the Con- stitution is only a piece of paper and is effective only as long as those principles and ideals are practiced. "But without these principles, prin-ciples, we would have a different form of government, perhaps even Communism, which would be far worse than our present form of government," he said. "Each year many Americans desert to foreign countries but of the total number of deserters more than 90 percent return voluntarily to the United States within 18 months." HE NOTED that Communism Com-munism is a form of government govern-ment in which laws are forced upon its people whereby laws of this land are observed through free will and choice. "There are ways to change laws, through federal, state and local legislation, but even the constitutional form of government could be changed with a two-thirds vote of 34 states," the congressman explained. SPEAKING briefly on Inflation, Rep. McKay noted that if the federal government reduced its expenditures to allow for a balanced budget, there would be a drastic cutback cut-back of services-including revenue sharing, highway aid and federal aid to education. Congressman McKay spoke briefly to two large groups of students gathered In the school gymnasium.
