Show Rezoning Okayed For Forest Land By GARY R. BLODGETT FARMINGTON - Brent Armstrong has won the okay from the Davis County Commission Com-mission to rezone a 40-acre parcel of forest land which is located in the unincorporated area east of Farmington. THE COMMISSION approved the rezoning of the private property which is located between Lund and Glover's Lane, nearly a half-mile half-mile east of State Highway 106 (200 East) in an area zoned by the Forest Service. The rezoning was approved from F-l to F-2 to allow Mr. Armstrong to renovate an existing building and construct con-struct a new residence near the 5,000-foot level. THE COMMISSION, however, stipulated that the rezoning was contingent on the county being libel-free of any actions by the owner and that the county is not responsible respon-sible for providing services to the remote area including any assistance in improving the access to the property. The home Mr. Armstrong wants to remodel was built in the late 1800s. "I'D LIKE to refinish and upgrade this old home and then build another new home on the site," said Mr. Armstrong. Arms-trong. He said he had no intentions in-tentions of developing a subdivision sub-division although land owners adjacent to him have indicated indicat-ed subdivision development will come to the area in the near future. "I want to leave the environment en-vironment undisturbed as much as possible and I will follow all the requirements of the county's hillside or dinance," he told the commission. com-mission. HE EXPLAINED that there is plenty of spring water on the hill where he intends to build a new home. "There are some 15 springs on the site, enough water to serve the entire area," he said. "Power can also be extended ex-tended to the site." THE REZONING will allow homes and cabins. The only structure on the property is an old home once occupied by a woman referred to by many Far-mington-area residents as "Aunt Annie." IN MOVING for the rezoning, rezon-ing, Comm. Morris F. Swapp said, "I see nothing wrong with the change (of rezoning), and personally, I'm envious of this man (Mr. Armstrong) because that is one of choice spots in all Davis County to have a home." |
