' - there is authority in ii and the indoor world 0C to come out to wel-he wel-he returning eternal I in SPRING is the most seasons. Spring flirts, t-dac or two of sun and IS then back comes the aid which whips dead across the newly . ' i cards. A day or two of warmth and spring reminds us that winter has not quite let go its hold upon the land and instead in-stead of son air, we have frost and snow. IT rs as if we were led gently into Eden. Only a little for our unaccustomed eyes Some greening, some coaxing outside, some marbles on the driveway, then slam doors with a sharp wind and bring back the bite in the air. As March gives way to April, the one or two days of the bright mildness stretches into a week at a time with only a few days sprinkled to remind us of past vengeance in the weather. SPRING IS fragile. Summer is boisterous and indefatigable. in-defatigable. It seems to go on forever with cloudless days and heat which becomes a way of life. Autumn frequently lingers with gradually diminishine warmth and slow death of summer. . But in this land, spring is the gentle, shy, delicate season. Only a little strength, no show of force, just a few mild days seasoned with chill and mean wind. BUT IN spite of her delicacy, spring prevails. She is shy, gentle, elusive, flirtatious, flirta-tious, temperamental, but she. always wins. Winter blusters and returns and dies a slow death and refuses to be vanquished, but always, spring prevails. THE TULIPS come. The lilacs and the forsythia return. re-turn. Fruit trees parade their glory, and spring comes on, forever. Such a short while spring reigns, tenuous and hesitant; never quite sure of her power, but like the gentle woman who smiles and coaxes her husband and a houseful of rambunctious children into the mold she wishes, so spring quietly, forcefully, relentlessly, has her way. SUMMER WILL come on with force and power and there is no doubt who rules. But you have to watch for spring or she will come and slip away and we will have missed her Dassme. But in her quiet way, spring is the most forceful of the seasons. because she brings the return of life to a frozen land and tells us we have once again survived the winter. |
