Show Residents Oppose Farm. Complex Concerning the new Farm-ington Farm-ington City Complex to be built at 100 North Main in Farmington. We are opposed to the removal of an old, but very well used and popular neighborhood park and playground play-ground facility to make way for another non-productive government gov-ernment owned building. WE FEEL that we must leave this park for our posterity poster-ity to enjoy as several previous generations have heretofore enjoyed it. We realize that cities must grow and that government takes up space, but let the bureaucracy take up other space where-in they don't disrupt dis-rupt neighborhoods or destroy our green areas and playgrounds. play-grounds. FARMINGTON has spent $60,000 for a park east of the cemetary and purchased T2 acres in North Farmington for a park there, but have spent very little (about $500) on the Lions Club Family Park, claiming lack of funds and that they had future "plans" forthe park. The Lions Club, neighborhood neighbor-hood residents, and local children chil-dren have for the most part maintained the park and playground play-ground equipment. WE ARE concerned about the increased traffic that a new city facility would create in an area where small children play. We are concerned that the bureaucrats will eventually consume the entire block as their empire expands. We want to see the children of this area have the good and happy memories that this family park can provide. A MIDTOWN park is a 'pearl of great price' that we cannot allow to be destroyed or exchanged for the fools gold of government led "progress". "prog-ress". Many cities would pay dearly dear-ly for such a lovely green spot and play area and we already have one! Let's keep it! Our children's children's children will thank us if we do. PLEASE HELP City Hall reconsider re-consider their actions at the next Council Meeting April 6th at 7 p.m. Darrell Lake Barbara Lake |
