Show West Bountiful Tuesday, March 22 at 7:30 the night Relief Society held their birthday party. Edna Mae King was in charge of the affair. The 7th Ward Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby was held recently. re-cently. The boys had worked hard to fashion their models. The fathers also help in working work-ing on the creations. Eric Nicholson won the gold medal, Chris Sheffield, the silver, and Michael Hepworth, the bronze. Irene Janes, J.R. Bangerter and Shirley White were the judges. Every boy who entered en-tered was given an award. There were awards for best paint job, best design, most original, etc. Randy Arnold, Cub Master was in charge. Refreshments Re-freshments were sold. Irene Janes took the West Bountiful Pre-School students on trips to the South Bountiful Library. They went in two groups, to facilitate the trip. The West Bountiful 2nd Ward held a ward roller skating skat-ing party at the Rustic Rink. All ages of members were invited in-vited to atten to skate or to wach. The Dale Janes attended a family party with Dale's side of the family at a restaurant in Roy. It was celebrating birthdays birth-days of the parents. Leslie DeWaal has been hospitalized. The Janes also attended a Reeder celebration for Grandma Grand-ma Norma Reeder. It was at their brother's home. Irene is kept busy with her work with the district Cub Scouts. They include scouts from all of the wards in the stake and Community Com-munity Church. The Arch Widdisons have been on a trip. All of the citizens should look forward to Arbor Day and try to donate more trees to the city park. Renone Hulet, former West Bountifulite wrote an article in the latest Ensign. Ed Watts recently returned from a mission to Argentina. He visited with Grandmother Mary Watts and his aunt and uncle, the Dan Mitchells. Bernice Noble has been hospitalized hos-pitalized and it is hoped she will soon be better. Joan Knighton dropped in for a visit with her mother, Jane Page. She also visited with her husband's folks, the George Knightons. Esther Miller, daughter of the Ariel Millers, has been ill and out of school for weeks. The Sam Allmans have entertained en-tertained conference visitors from Pero. They are also visiting visit-ing in Europe. Sam won the trip from his work. We hope that Dorothy Kir-ton Kir-ton is soon recovered from her case of walking pneumonia. Last week Garth E. Hogan, son of the Lloyd Hogans won five awards at the science fair, including two first place trophies. His project was to test an aspirin substitute for side effects. He used rats in his experiment. His first place awards were for his oral presentation pre-sentation and for the display of the project. The 1st Ward cultural hall was filled with women as the 1st, 7th and 8th Wards held their ward Birthday Party. Congratulations to Shauna and Jerry Stocks in the birth of a baby girl. Jerry Brown was injured quite badly at work when a box fell on his legs. He will be on crutches for at least two months. The Dan Taylors enjoyed a visit from a cousin, Penny Brown, from Genola. Other cousins, the Jessie Wares, also visit with them. The Dan Mitchells and many of their grandchildren celebrated the birthday of one- year-old Spencer DuShane. There were 10 mothers and their children attending. On Friday, March 25 the 3rd Ward Relief Society held their birthday party. Arleen Pace and Julie Murray were in charge. The group "One Voice" entertained with Broadway hits. Genevieve Winder is hospitalized hospit-alized for tests. Young David McKean went to California to the Rifle men meet. It was the Reserve Shooting Regional State Camp, at Fort Ord. He won 1 st and 2nd place in M 14 competi-tion competi-tion and was given two trophies. Del Zesiger's birthday dinner din-ner was made more enjoyable by the attendance of his wife Carol's mother, Dahl Carter and son Wayne. Also present were Del's parents, the Fred Zesigers. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Richardson have returned from California. Rod and Louise Stringham have been in McKinney, Tex. to visit with Louise's son Bill Hanson. |
