Show It's About Time... Meet Ms, VMde Om 6M About Time QM By VICKIE MATHESO.N I write about time. Now some of you might waste time or save time or pass time, but I write about time. And since this is my first column in your paper I thought I might introduce myself. AN INTRODUCTION would be easier if this was a gossip column, then I could tell you all my personal secrets. (But that wouldn't take very long.) If it was an advice column I wouldn't need to tell you anything about me, I could just tell you all about you. Since this isn't a sports column col-umn I don't need to say I swim in my spare time, what I should do is tell you all about spare time. But spare time is confusing. Is this something you carry around in the trunk of your car right next to your spare tire? I DIDN'T always write about time. I used to write about the skunks in Yellowstone Park and once I wrote an article about table legs. I would have gone on writing about furniture but one day my husband started to complain about the quality of my writing. "Do you have any suggestions?" I shouted as I picked up a book to throw at him. "WELL," he began, "I didn't mean to make you mad, I was just thinking it's about time... And the book him him. . .and I took his suggestion. sugges-tion. SINCE THEN I have devoted a lot of time to thinking about time. For example, when someone some-one says, "Time stands still," I always wonder x . n if time ever gets the wiggles. Or when a friend G says, "Take your time," I wonder where. To the zoo? On a picnic? Even when I take out the .tive1 trash I don't think about how it smells, I think of-s that trash has certainly changed with time . What Pate did people ever throw away before plastic bot- ties and disposable diapers? Right now I am running out of time. Do you 3iaCt think this is like running out of sugar? Maybe I :l1 p can go next door and borrow a cupful from f'rrc Susan. THE ANYWAY, I write about time and how things change with time and what is time saving and what time alters. I hope you can find the time (you might check under the sofa or look in the closets) to read "It's About Time..." v 'll |
