Show mi Em Woods Cross voters have a field of well qualified candidates can-didates seeking the three council seats in the up and coming Nov. 4 election. NINE PROSPECTIVES, eight men and one woman are hitting the campaign trail, giving citizens an excellent choice for these select positions. posi-tions. But most important, giving the democractic process of choice, by willingness willing-ness and interest of candidates can-didates to the voters. Two incumbents, Daniel R. Evans and Ralph T. Argyle are both seeking re-election. Milton Park, who has served the city as councilman for four terms (16 years) has not entered the race. DANIEL R. Evans has been a resident of Woods Cross for 17 years. He and his wife Renee are parents of five children and reside at 1799 South 580 West. He is a building build-ing contractor and is co-owner co-owner of TLC Milk Depot. He moved to Woods Cross from Salt Lake City, and loves the city and the people, and enjoys service to the community. com-munity. MR. EVANS has been directly in charge of Parks and Recreation. He would like to continue the improvements which have begun on the 1100 South Park, and as growth continues in the city, add additional ad-ditional properties for recreational needs. Mr. Evans is responsible for park and recreational personnel, in additions to functions and needs of both departments. Ralph T. Argyle is a lifelong life-long resident of Woods Cross. He and his wife Lucille reside at 1230 South 1100 West. They are parents of five children, who are all now residing in Woods Cross. He has been active in church and civic affairs af-fairs all his lifetime and has worked as a dairyman and farmer. MR. ARGYLE is just completing his first term and city councilman. During his four years of service, he has been assigned to storm sewers and street lights. His most recent assignments are animal control and streets. Many improvements have come about in these departments depart-ments during his term of office, of-fice, but his main objective for seeking re-election, is his concern for the city and the pleasure of serving the people. MRS. WILDA Austin is the only woman seeking the position posi-tion on this year's ticket. She has been a resident of Woods Cross for three years, residing resid-ing at 917 South 800 W. She has resided in the Bountiful area for many years previous to her local residency. Her specific reasons for seeking the office of council-woman council-woman is her interest and concern about government, city as well as other areas. SHE STATES that we do live in a wonderful country and do have a good form of government, and feels that citizens must speak out and be active. She also feels that those who do not vote, should not criticize. Also that citizens ci-tizens should not become apathetic and lose faith in our freedoms. Mrs. Austin has various interests, and is especially anxious to see what makes city government work. She is especially interested in planning plan-ning and zoning, and recreation. recrea-tion. She is the mother of five children, three grown with families, and two daughters who reside with her. She is a graduate of Davis High School and attended Brigham Young University. LARRY Wilkinson and his wife Lucille and two sons reside at 2244 Sorrento Drive, where they have resided for the past nine years. The Wilkinsons came to the area from Preston, Ida. Mr. Wilkinson is Warehouse Manage.' for Wycoff, has attended at-tended Utah State University and graduated from Steven-Henager Steven-Henager Business College. He believes in control of expenses and the need for a balanced budget. He would also work towards not increasing taxes. Informing the public and making citizens ci-tizens more aware of problems at hand would also be a goal. He pledges his time, if elected, to being a willing worker for Woods Cross and its residents. PETER BURNINGHAM is a seven year resident of Woods Cross. He and his wife Mary Lynn and four children reside at 1978 South 700 W. He is a painting contractor and has lived his entire life in the Bountiful area. He has assisted assist-ed with Little League and been an interested citizen for many years. Mr. Bumingham's reasons for seeking the office of councilman coun-cilman is his great concern to the trend of government becoming too powerful and limiting individual freedoms. He believes there should be less government and more individual responsibility. He is concerned with Federal Aid, and would work to make the city independent of federal money. RONALD BOSWELL, 716 West 925 South, has been a constant visitor at city council meetings for the past year. He has shown interest in local government and believes that in as much as the total population of the city is young, the younger people should be represented for a balance of ideas and con-sideration con-sideration by the council. He is also concerned with the lack of citizen interest in local government and would work towards a better information flow. Mr. Boswell is married to the former Mary Greco of Bountiful. They are parents of four children. He graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, attended the University of Utah and graduated from Utah Tech, He is owner-operator of Ron's Koin Korner, a cost accountant accoun-tant for St. Regis Paper Company, and a member of the Bountiful Area Chamber of Commerce. RONALD WHETMAN is another interested citizen running for the city council. He lives with his wife Claudine and three children at 765 W. 2075 South. He has lived in the Bountiful area all his life. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. En-gineering. He is presently employed at Hill Air Force Base as an Industrial Engineer En-gineer and is working on his Masters Degree. HAVING LIVED in the city nine years, Mr. Whetman finds no complaints about the city, but finds areas which need to be improved. He would be willing to serve the people, represent the people and give personal interest to all concerned. One area of interest is the judicial system, sys-tem, and if elected follow through on all given assignments. assign-ments. Daniel Cooper is the youngest young-est candidate, 26 years of age, and after completing a tour of duty with the military, is a full time student at the University in the field of Elementary Education. He and his wife Beth, and one daughter, reside at 1650 S. 1100 West. They have lived in the city one year. MR. COOPER would like to see removal of flammables and acid carriers from the 800 west area and particularly away from the South Bountiful Boun-tiful Elementary School. He is especially concerned with lawmakers and judicial departments making decisions that should be done by elected officials.
