Show School District Reports Increase Over 35,200 students are enrolled in the Davis County Schools. District officials report the enrollment in the Davis County School District is up about 350 to 400 students over last year. REPORTS SHOW the boom in the enrollment may have hit this year at the kindergarten kinder-garten level. Supt. Bemell Wrigley says' there are 2,532 students in the senior classes in Davis. That number increases each year to a high of 2,951 at the ninth grade level at this time. It then begins to dip each year to the third and fourth grades. BUILDING IN Davis County has continued to grow and officials think the dip can be attributed to birth control. The numbers hold steady at about 2,500 through first grade, but this year's kindergarten kinder-garten enrollment jumped back up to over 2,800 pupils. Supt. Wrigley said birth statistics for the following year of children expected to enter school next fall show another increase. This increase is based only on students actually enrolled in school and with the major' housing developments in Davis County the number of students could increase even more according to officials. THE REPORT for the Clearfield area shows how dramatic the increase has been. The number of first grade students enrolled is 549, while the number of kindergarten kinder-garten students is 682. DISTRICT officials use the statistics to project where new schools will be needed in the future. |
