Show Music Students Rate High in Region Ten Contests The Region Ten solo and ensemble en-semble contest was held in Enterprise En-terprise on Wednesday, March 20. Cedar High was repsented by nearly sixty students from band, chorus, and orchestra. The judging was done by top musical directors from colleges around the state and ratings of I, II, or III were given each entry. Ratings of I were given to a group of Madrigal singers, a double dou-ble mixed quartet, female double dou-ble trio, a trio consisting of Janet Leonard, Suzanne Sargent and Phyllis Crabtree; a solo by Floyd Rigby, and also solos by Suzanne Su-zanne Sargent, Vyonne Gibson and DeVon Porter. In the instrumental music division, di-vision, I ratings were received by a clarinet quartet, a woodwind wood-wind choir, a violin solo by Janice Lamb, and piano solos by JoAnn Duncan, Janice Lamb, Mary Ann Palmer, Nancy Clair Johnson and a duet by JoAnn Duncan and Nancy Claire Johnson. John-son. Rating of II were given to a male quartet, a vocal duet by Dee Woods and Vyonne Gibson, a solo by Brent Hunter, a woodwind wood-wind quintet and a sousaphone solo by Ron Thompson. Violin solos receiving II ratings were Mary Ann Palmer, Lauren Mac-Donald, Mac-Donald, JoAnn Duncan, and Judy Stewart. Karen Rlchsteig received receiv-ed a II on her piano solo. .a. |
