Show "Esther Peterson Day" Activities at College 01 Southern Utah Scheduled Today, Thursday Activities for "Esther Peterson Day" at College of Southern Utah Thursday, March 28, will begin at 9:30 a. m. with a conducted tour of the CSU campus and the community for Mrs. Peterson and special guests, Mrs. Algie Ballif, Mrs. Edna S. Cannon and Mrs. Betsy F. Vaught. I High school seniors will be Invited In-vited to attend an 11 a. m. student stu-dent assembly in the CSU auditorium audi-torium which will be followed by a luncheon for the guests and workshop members at 12:15 p-m. p-m. in the CSU Farmily Living Center. Afternoon workshop sessions on 'The Creative . Dimensions of a Woman" will begin at 1:30 p. m. and last until 4 p. m. Mrs. Peterson, Pet-erson, Mrs. Ballif, Mrs. Cannnon and Mrs. Vaught will serve as resource guides for the discussions. discus-sions. . . A general assembly at 8 p. m. in the CSU auditorium is open to all area residents. Mrs. Peterson Peter-son will deliver a special talk in keeping with the discussions of the day. Concluding event will be a reception and exhibit of student stu-dent arts in the Family Living Center at 9:30 p. m. Mrs. Peterson, United States i Assistant Secretary of Labor and head of the women's bureau, is a native of Provo, Utah and was a faculty member at Branch Agricultural Ag-ricultural College. She has been prominent "or rnaiiy cou in eu-i ucatlon and labor activities, serving serv-ing in offices and on committees nationally and internationally. Mrs. Ballif resides in Provo and was a former representative to the Utah State Legislature. She has also served on state and district dis-trict school boards and is active ESTHER PETERSEN in a number of organizations and committees Including President Presi-dent Kennedy's Commission on the Status of Women. Mrs. Canon Can-on has a doctor's degree in education edu-cation and presently teaches eJ Piute High School. She is a member mem-ber of the State Board of Education Educa-tion and active in church and civic affairs. She formerly taught in the Cedar City Junior High School. Mrs. Vaught is a former CSU student and is working as merchandizing mer-chandizing promotions director ior television station KCFX in Salt Lake City. She is studying toward a law degree at University Universi-ty of Utah. She was regional representative rep-resentative to the "I Speak for Democracy" oratorical contest In Washington, D. C, while attending attend-ing Beaver High School. |
