Mrs. Delores Thornton, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thornton, Thorn-ton, has won recognition as the first named candidate to Girls' State from the P H S. The convention con-vention will convene June 12 to 19, at the Utah State Agricultural Agricultur-al College at Logan. Miss Thornton Thorn-ton is being sponsored by the Parowan Chamber of Commerce. Through her high school years she has displayed outstanding leadership ability, being twice president of her class and Is currently cur-rently assistant editor of the school yearbook, the "Parawana." She is also very active in church affairs In her ward. Mrs. Ruth Prothero, Van and Merton accompanied her aged father, J. J. Jones home from Montecello, Calif., Frl. Mr. and Mrs. Blaln Jones met them at Lund. Mrs. Prothero and boys returned re-turned to their California home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Ivor Clove of Enterprise En-terprise spent a day last week with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rob- lnson. Mr. Clove Is a brother of Mrs. Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. Don Roberts of Cedar Ce-dar City came up Sunday to help Mrs. Robert's brother, Samuel Abbott Ab-bott celebrate his birthday. A family dinner was the order of the day. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Prothero came home Sunday after an absence ab-sence of five weeks. Alene has: spent the time In Cedar City) caring for her brother Howard Bonzo, who has been seriously ill in the hospital for a month. Lewis has had employment in Nevada. Gale Stolk returned home last week from Camp Carson, Colo., with a medical discharge from the army. He has spent a good share of his time In the hospital hospi-tal there. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Stolk came in from Ely, Nev. and took him back there with them. Edwin Williamson suffered a heart attack on Saturday Just prior to the funeral services for his sister, Elizabeth Barton. Mr. and Mrs. LaVar Gale came from Beaver Sunday and took her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Lister to Las Vegas, Nev., for a few weeks where Mrs. Etta Goodwin will care for them. It Is hoped that the warmer climate would Improve Mr. Lister's health. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Board-man Board-man attended the funeral services of Mrs. Williamson's grandmother, grandmoth-er, Mrs. Theodia Hatton in Cedar City on Thursday. They traveled on to Milford with the funeral cortege where the burial took place. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Topham and family traveled to Pangultch on Saturday to visit relatives. The Primary organization held a special Mother's Day program in connection with a bazaar on Tuesday. Many articles suitable for every family's first lady were readily disposed of. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Robinson and Eugene Topham made a trip to California last week end, returning re-turning Saturday. They visited with Mr. and Mrs. Leland Lam-oreaux Lam-oreaux In Henderson, Nev. on their wav home. Mrs. Mary L. Robb. Bobby and Judy of Salt Lake City, accompanied accom-panied Dale Robinson home on Saturday. Mrs. Robb will spend a week here visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Robb and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Robinson and family. fam-ily. Jim will come for his family the last of the week. Heber Lund, Duane Lamoreaux and Kenneth Topham traveled to Cedar City High School on Tuesday, Tues-day, to Beaver and Milford on Wednesday and to the C S U on Thursday with the PHS assembly assem-bly Exchange Program. They thrilled their student audiences with their accordion number. Miss Joan Lamoreaux also took part in a clever skit for the ac-casion. ac-casion. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Evans went on to Panguitch to take care of the rites. Mrs. John C. Barton arrived home from Salt Lake City on Sunday with the news that her son-in-law, Cyril Partner, was able to be moved to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Lister. She returned to the city Monday morning on receiving word that Mrs. Partner had pneumonia, Mrs. Annie Talbot. Mrs. Roka Thornton and Mrs. Idella Robinson Robin-son were guests of their daughters daugh-ters on Sunday at the C S U. The occasion was a delightful tea and style dress review arranged especially for the mothers. Willard Dalton came In Friday night from Salt Lake CJty to see his sister Ruth, and express birthday congratulations to his father, John L. Dalton on his 80th birthday which was Sunday. Sun-day.
