Show Jaycees Attend State Convention; Chester Cripps Voted State Veep A delegation of 28 members of the Cedar City Junior Chamber of Commerce returned to Cedar City late Sunday evening after attending a four-day State Jaycee convention conven-tion at Richfield. The group returned with several honors topped by the election of Chester Cripps of the local group as a'state vice president. Three awards for local projects were also garnered by the Cedar City club. An award was presented at the Saturday session of the convention conven-tion for Christmas activities, one for extension and the Founders' Award also given for outstanding wnrk In Pxtpnsioll. Cedar City, vying for the honors In Division Two of the awards contest, all cities under 10,000 population, also placed a bid for the state convention In 1956 but lost nut to a northern rival, Logan. Lo-gan. Heading the Cedar City delegates dele-gates was A. L. Thompson, president presi-dent o the Cidar City Jaycees, and Ronald Morgan, newly elected elect-ed president fri the coming year. Others In attendance included Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Heyborne, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Lunt, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Cripps, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver LeFevre, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Linord, Mr. and Mrs. Miles Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Garth Webster, Web-ster, Mr. and Mrs. Klien Rollo, Mrs. and Mrs. Miles Waters, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Bowman. Outgoing stale vice president Robert Case and his wife of Cedar Ce-dar City w?re also in attendance at the convention. Case was also state awards chairman for the past year. The two trophies won bv the Cedar Ce-dar Cltv club in connection with extension received considerable nraise by state officers. Durinir Ihe past year the extension committee, com-mittee, herulnd bv Chester Crinns. has extended two Javcee Units. The first in Braver and the see- ond In Kanab. Boh of these units were represented at the state function. Christmas activities In Cedar City were conducted under the chairmanship of Garth Webster, Thompson said. |
