Show Typhoid, Smallpox Clinic Participation High A report, made early this week by LaRue Ford, Iron County Public Pub-lic Health nurse, on the recently recent-ly completed typhoid fever and smallpox clinics, indicated a larger lar-ger response than those held in the past. The clinic was sponsored sponsor-ed by the Iron County Civil Defense De-fense and the Utah State Public Health Department. Total number of typhoid shots given was 2,308, Including booster boos-ter shots and the three-series needed to give immunity. In the past, according to Miss Ford, the number of typhoid shots given have ranged from 1700 to 1800. Of the ?368 shots given 324 were p;.ven to children under six years of age. 2044 were given to children chil-dren and adults six years old and over. The drive to have adults participate parti-cipate in the clinic along with the school children was apparently appar-ently the reason for the additional addition-al number given this year, Miss Ford said. Smallpox vaccinations totaled 3G8. Of that number 110 were to children under six and 158 were glvon to those six years old and over. |
