Show Cedar Redmen Make Dixie Trip With Victory Hopes "All, or Nothing at All." That may be a popular song of not so long ago, but as of today, Thursday, it has been adopted by Coach Ray Englestead and the Cedar Redmen baseball team, as their theme song. The diamond men of the local high school will leave this evening even-ing at five o'clock for St. George where the final league gome of the Dixie Divisiqn of Region Six will be played by the Redmen and the Flyers. At the present time the Flyers are leading the league by virtue of their extra inning win over Hurricane Monday, 5 to 4, but a victory for the Redmen in their "all or nothing at all" drive would throw the race into a three-way tie, with Hurricane as the third figure in the triangle arrangement. Hurricane, has defeated Cedar City twice, once in an extra Inning In-ning game. Dixie was forced into extra innings on both occasions of the Flyers' conquest of the Tigers and the Redmen came from behind in the final Inning of play to route Dixie in their only meeting with the St. George team. One surprising note In the Red-men Red-men lineup for this final game is the fact that seven of the start ers will be sophomore students and the other two juniors. This fact would point out the potential poten-tial future strength of the team regardless of the outcome of the game this evening. Monday the Redmen invaded Ordervllle to down the Valley Buffaloes by a score of 18 to 2. Englestead gave three of his bovs a chance to work on the .mound in the game. Bevan Corry handled handl-ed the first three innings, Milton Dalley won on the mound for three more and Dee Heyborne finished up the seventh inning. Probable starter in tonight's game will be Michael Frame, a Sonhomore, with Gale Simklns, a junior, completing the battery. Other starters will be Clayton Petty, 1st. base; Sheldon Sargent, 2nd. base; Jon Isom, 3rd base; Reed Hevwood, ss; and Don Robinson, Ro-binson, Bevan Corry and Kenneth Ken-neth Jones in the outfield! With the exception of Simklns and Petty, the remaining starters are sophomore students. |
