Show Monroe Girl Chosen CSU 'Coed' In RWS Week Event Miss Elvonna Johnson, a freshman fresh-man student at the College of Southern Utah, whose home is in Monroe, Utah, was named "Coed o the Year" at the college last week as a feature of the Girls' Week activities. The announcement announce-ment of Miss Johnson's selection for the honor was made at the "Last Chance Dance," a part oi the week of activities sponsored by the Associated Women Students Stu-dents at the college. The young lady has been active ac-tive in student affairs during her first year at the local school, and at present is serving as as sistant editor of the college year- -book. Election of officer for next year was also conducted during the week by the Associated Women Students, with Mary Carol Lem-mon Lem-mon of Parowan named president presi-dent and Marlyn Lovell of Ka-narraville, Ka-narraville, chosen as secretary. No vice president is elected by the association, but upon the opening of school In September representatives from the various classes will be named. Officers this year have been Earlene Steele, Delta, president; Marilyn Bladen, Cedar City, secretary, sec-retary, who served as president during the spring quarter after Miss Steele had left school; Jane Rae Fuller, LaVerkin, sophomore representative; Pat Pace, Cedar City, freshmen representative, and Mrs. Gwyn Clark, advisor. Climax of the week's activities activi-ties came Sunday afternoon, when the annual tea and fashion show was conducted by the women wo-men students of the college. Mothers of the women students were special guests for the Mothers and Daughters tea held in the new auditorium. The tea was followed by a very successful success-ful fashion show with the students stu-dents modeling school, dance, and formal dresses, sleep wear, and sportswear. |
