Show Grand Canyon Area Selected For Rock Club Trip A two-day field trip to the Tor-weap Tor-weap area of the Grand Canyon of the Colorado has been planned through the efforts of the Cedar City Rock Club and the Sons of the Utah rioneers. The trip will be taken on Saturday and Sunday, Sun-day, May 14 and 15. Time and place of departure have not yet been announced, according ac-cording to C. L. Chatterley, president pres-ident of the SUP, however, announcement an-nouncement will be made In the Record next week. An invitation for all members and any other interested persons to make the trip has been extended ex-tended by the organizations. They recommend that late model cars do not attempt the excursion. excurs-ion. Pickups and other vehicles of that type would be the most feasible fea-sible method of transportation. Other items to be considered for v those Interested will be an extra supply of water, ample food supply for two full days, extra motor oil and gasoline and sleep-ing sleep-ing bags or bedding. First stop on the trip will be Saturday morning in the Short , Creek and Pipe Spring area. From there the group will move to the Torweap area on the rim of the Grand Canyon. An evening program pro-gram has been arranged by those familiar with the area, and Parley Par-ley Dalley, geologist. Sunday the return trip will take the group to the Mt. Trum bull and Nixon Springs area and over the Hurricane fault to the town of,Mt. Trumbull. The caravan cara-van will continue to St. George and back to Cedar City that evening. eve-ning. In addition to Dalley, Frank J. Petty and D. C. Schmutz will help supervise the group at the Torweap Tor-weap camp. |
