Show Business Department Contest Results Published for Vocational Day A. W. Stephenson, head of the business department of the College Col-lege of Southern Utah, announced this week the results of the typewriting, type-writing, shorthand and bookkeeping bookkeep-ing contests conducted by that department at the recent Vocational Voca-tional Day activities on the campus. cam-pus. Individual honors went to Reta Gale Gub-Ier, Gub-Ier, Dixie, first; Thyllis Baker, Beaver, second, and Jo Ann Brad-field, Brad-field, Delta, third. Out of state high honors were awarded to the Lincoln County High School of anara, Nev. Second Year Contest Richfield High School copped first place in the second year typing: contest with a 81.7 combination, com-bination, of timed writing and tabulation tests. They were followed fol-lowed by Delta High, second, 71.1 and Dixie High, third with G9.6. Gwendolyn Marquardson of Rich-field Rich-field posted the highest individual individ-ual record In this contest with a 113.3 mark. She was followed by Lael Hilton, Delta, with a 103-J2 103-J2 mark, and third was Luene Klienman, Hurricane, with a 92.G mark. First year shorthand results were as follows: Delta High, first; Dixie High, second, and Cedar High, third. Individual honors were won by Thelma Black, Del-la. Del-la. 99.G, first; Nancy Christensen, Lincoln, 98.75, second, and Ra- contest. Delta won with Lael Hilton Hil-ton scoring 98.78 for first place in the individual scoring. Second Sec-ond place honors were won by Janet Christensen, Richfield with chelle Rollins, Dixie, 983, third. Sole Entries Delta and Richfield high schools were the only two entered enter-ed In the second year shorthand a 92.12 and third place was won by Maxine Reeves, Delta, with a 88.78 mark. Richfield, Hurricane and Millard Mil-lard high school placed first, second and third, respectively in the bookkeeping contest. The top three individuals, however, were all from the Richfield High school. They were: Richard Ross, first; Ellen Robins, second, and John R. Anderson, third. Schools participating in the business department events were: Escalante, Richfieid, Beaver, Cedar Ce-dar City, Delta, Dixie, Enterprise, Enter-prise, Hurricane, Kanab, Milford, Millard Parowan and Valley high schools. Lincoln and Moapa Valley, Nev. also participated, Stephenson said. |
