Show Reese P. Maughans Return From Summer Studies Dr. and Mrs. Reese P. Maughan 'returned to Cedar City last Friday Fri-day after spending the past six j weeks in post-graduate study at Teachers College, Columbia University. Uni-versity. Leaving here June 21, they visited friends in Cincinnati, where they formerly lived and and where" Dr. Maughan took his doctorate. On their way to New York, they also visited in Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. At Columbia, Dr. Maughan was a member of three work conferences confer-ences in elementary school leadership, lead-ership, curriculum, and school administration in addition to pursuing regular course studies. He also did considerable work in research in the university libraries. librar-ies. Mrs. Maughan continued her studies in elementary curriculum, curricu-lum, creative dramatics for the lower elementary grades, and related re-lated courses in the training of children in nursery, kindergarten, kindergar-ten, and primary grade levels. On their return trip, they visited visit-ed several teacher-training institutions in-stitutions in the South and spent a few days in Atlanta, (la., and Auburn, Ala., w here Dr. Maughan once taught at the Alabama Polytechnic Po-lytechnic Institute. They both report re-port an enjoyable and worthwhile worth-while summer. Dr. Maughan is professor of education and chairman of the division of education at College of Southern Utah, and Mrs. Maughan is a teacher in the Iron County School District. i |
