Show Kiwanians Learn True Fail-Out Significance A straight from the shoulder, everyday language discussion of1 the technical aspects of radiation radia-tion and its relation to the Atomic Atom-ic tests being conducted at Yucca Flats in Nevada, was. heard by members of the knva-l nis Club of Cedar City at their! Monday evening meeting. i Leading the discussion was Dr. Clinton Powell, senior member of the Atomic Energy Commission, eff-site monitoring team located here. Dr. Powell compared the amout of radio-active fall out that oc-; curred in Cedai City recently! with other elements of radiation' that we encounter every day. He compared the amount to that of radiation from X-rays and from! normal background that was' with us even before atomic de-1 vices were discovered. I Following a brief discussion of' what the off-site monitoring teams were doing, Dr. Powell opened the meeting up to questions ques-tions from the floor. Special guests at the clubi meeting were Edgar Seagle, member of the monitoring team; lovely Helen Harris, the ckiVs candidate for Miss Cedar Ci.y, and her mother. Rulon Woodbury, instructor f t the Cedar City Junior High i School, was also a guat cf the club at the Monday meeti-ng. Bob Heyborne, program chairman, chair-man, announced that Monday, April 18 the program will feature Max Robinson of the College of Southern Utah and a discussion of his patented forage meter. |
