Show Margene Isom To Reign as Miss Cedar City I 1 1 v.;. -v ' i . ' ,' MARGENE ISOM Lovely, vivacious, serene Mar-gene Mar-gene Isom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Waldon Isom of Cedar City, was selected as Miss Cedar City of 1955 at the annual pageant staged by the Junior Chamber of Commerce last night, Wednesday. Attendants to the queen were Miss Helen Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Harris, and Re-nee Re-nee Gentry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gentry. Other candidates included Jackie Ward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ward of Parowan; Iva Lynn Cosslett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cosslett, and Ruthell Lamoreaux, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lamoreaux. Lamor-eaux. Margene. chosen from a field of six contestants, was selected on the basis of talent, beauty of face and figure, personality and poise. Judging was extremely close, Jack Thuet, chairman of the event, said. First they appeared ap-peared In formal attire, then in bathing suits and finally they presented their talent numbers. Miss Cedar City chose a reading read-ing as her talent number for the evening as did her first attend-ent, attend-ent, Miss Harris. Miss Gentry gave a brief novelty tap and twirling demonstration before seat4ng herself at the piano in a demonstration of versatility. Miss Cosslett, popular dance student at the College of Southern South-ern Utah, did a modern tap number; num-ber; Miss Ward played a bass clarinet solo and Miss Lamor-eaux Lamor-eaux gave a dramatic reading. As a climax to the evening's activities Miss Carol Ann Parry, Miss Cedar City of 1954. relinquished relin-quished her crown to the new queen for the ensuing year. In addition to winning the coveted cov-eted title, Miss Isom received three pieces of Samsonlte luggage lug-gage and a $100 dash award to defray her expenses to the Miss Utah Beauty Pageant In the fall. Gift certificates of S25 each were awarded to the attendants and each of the other candidates was give a gift In appreciation for her effort. |
