Show Former Iron County Resident Wins Homemaker Contest Joan Laura Jordan a senior at Ottumwa High School, has been selected as Iowa's Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow, Tomor-row, it was learned here this week. She Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Jordan, former residents of Modena and Cedar City. An article announcing Joan as the Iowa state winner was received re-ceived by former friends of the family, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Moyle of Beryl. Seventeen-year-old Joan received re-ceived the highest score of the 340 school winners throughout the state. A total of 4,529 Iowan high school seniors participated in the examination, it was told. Joan will compete with 47 other oth-er state winners for the Betty Crocker All-American Homemaker Homemak-er of Tomorrow title. By winning the Iowa pin she received a $1,-500 $1,-500 scholarship and an expense-paid expense-paid trip for herself and her school advisor to Washington, D. C, Colonial Williamsburg, Va., and Philadelphia, Pa. Mr. Jordan owns and and at one time operated the "Gold Springs" mines above Modena. |
