At present, Mr. Oveson maintains an accounting practice in Orem, consulting businesses on management and tax problems. Prior to starting his own company, he was employed as an audit manager with Squire, Hutchings, Ellis and DeBry, CPA's for the past five years. During that period his experience spanned management of auditing local government units, school districts, cities, counties, and hospitals. Oveson is a graduate of BYU and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants. He has been active in the Republican party, holding positions of treasurer of the Utah County Young Republicans and treasurer of Utah County Republicans. H ' Linn C. Baker DEMOCRAT Linn C. Baker, current State Treasurer, is the Democratic candidate for State Auditor. Baker, who under the Constitution cannot run to succeed himself at State Treasurer, desires fo continue serving the citizens of Utah as an elected official. He is presently serving as the president of the National Association of State Treasurers; is the vice president of the Utah State Retirement System and has served as a member of the Utah State Retirement Board for 13 years. During the eight year interval between bet-ween his terms as State Treasurer, Baker was Vice President of marketing for the First Security Corporation, served as a member of the Institutional Council of the University of Utah; was the Weber County Treasurer from July 1958 through 1964; owned and operated the Ogden Motor Lodge from 1953 t 1957; served in the Utah State Legislature from 1949 through 1951; served as a Justice of the Peace; and owned and operated a grocery and cold storage locker plant in Ogden. Baker was born in Thatcher, P.ox Elder County, Utah. He is married to the former Cyrere Worley. They have four children and are presently living in Bountiful. |
