Show t . - V y". ' . 1 m n l, WITH THE UINTAH High School Cheerleaders in the background, Michelle Russel of PM Magazine films a feature story about Vernal. I ' ' ! 1 Past leaders honored in Lions charter-night program It was memory night for many Vernal Lions Club members as they honored charter members of the club and heard the history of the club traced through some fifty-three years since the Vernal service club was organized on Sept. 30, 1927. One of those who remembers that night and was honored at the Charter-Night Charter-Night Program was William B. Wallis, former publisher of the Vernal Express and a church and civic leader in the area. Also honored was Mr. Charles Freeman, another charter member, but who was unable to attend due to ill health. Mr. Wallis and Mr. Freeman are the only living members who helped start the club that charter night. Also honored at the Charter-Night program was Mike Sullivan, out going club president. Sullivan is the manager of Day's Thriftway in Vernal and a personable, popular community leader, currently serving as the club's project chairman in charge of the current campaign to raise some $12,000 to help build playground equipment at two of Vernal's city parks. In reporting to .the club, Sullivan noted that not only would the project raise money for a very worthwhile cause, but also would provide first-class first-class family entertainment for residents of the area. He said the next feature in the series would be Saturday, Nov. 29 with world traveler Dennis Cooper with a tour of Hawaii. Ticket chairman, Brad Wallis, stressed that tickets for the season are still on sale from any ticket outlet or Lions Club member at $20 for family tickets or $8 for individual adult tickets. |
