Show Uinfoh f usslers ?o clash on Mou. 22 Wrestling practice will begin at Uintah Uin-tah High School in the wrestling room, Monday at 2:30 p.m. The Uintah Utes are the defending 3-A State Champions. Uintah has won six state championship crowns in a row and have won 12 state wrestling tournaments in the .past 13 years. Uintah has won 14 state wrestling tournaments and has won first place crowns in four decades. Uintah has four wrestlers returning to the 1980-81 version of the Utes, who placed in state wrestling tournaments. Brett Brown, 98; Jeff Good, 119 and Randy Smuin, 145, captured second place titles in the 1980 state meet and Josh Reynolds netted first place in the 98 pound class at the 1979 state meet. Wrestle offs will be held at Uintah High School on Saturday, November 22 at 7:30 p.m. The Utes will compete in a double dual meet in Pleasant Grove on November 25. Uintah will battle Spr- ingville and Pleasant Grove will encounter en-counter Alta at 5 p.m. The Utes will take on Alta and Pleasant Grove will battle Spring ville at 8 p.m. Junior varsity matches will also take place. Uintah's junior varsity team will compete in the Valley Opener at Union High School in Roosevelt on December 1 and Uintah's varsity team will defend its title at the Steamboat Springs Tour-. Tour-. nament, December 5 and 6. Uintah has won the tournament five years in a row. The Utes' first home dual meet will be against Rock Springs, the defending Wyoming state champions, on December 11. The Vernal Tournament of Champions will take place on January 9 and 10 at Uintah High School. Teams that will be taking part in the tournament are: Uintah, Green River. Rock Springs, Steamboat Springs, Preston, Idaho; Skyline, Uiah; V'-mont V'-mont and Mountain View. |
