Show 'n 1 1 1 : Wednesday of last week Uintah students had the opportunity to meet TV personalities firsthand. The cast and crew of PM Magazine visited the school to film the cheerleaders as part of a feature story about Uintah County. At 3 p.m., the crew began filming the cheerleaders in action with the Pep Club as backup. -It was a rare opportunity for many of those who took part. This Friday marks the end of the first term. It has been one of challenges and changes for the studentbody. A new grading system has been a challenge for all, and a new schedule has been a major change. School begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m. Most of the students feel that the new schedule is much better. One of the clubs at Uintah High, which doesn't get a lot of publicity, is theFFA organization. Oct. 14 they went to Snow College in Ephriam, Utah to take part in a competition. The agriculture mechanics team placed , fifth. It consisted, of. .Dave Chives, Kurt Shiner and Mike Jones. Dave Oliver .placed second. in. the "' individual , agriculture division. Saturday, Oct. 25, the Science Club traveled to Provo to attend a seminar at BYU. Those who attended chose from several workshops: The Brain, Music with Computer, and Lasers. The band also traveled last week. They took part in a marching competition com-petition in Tooele where they placed third. The band's new instructor is Mr. Tibbits. The football season came to a close for the Utes last week as they were defeated by Jordan. The team finished the year with a 4-1 region record. Celebration is in order Saturday after the volleyball team defeated Cyprus at the University of Utah. The Utes went to Salt Lake City to play a preliminary game for the Univeristy, who played New Mexico later in the day. With the win and a previous win , against Tooele earlier in the week, the volleyball team stands in a tie for first place in the region. |
