Show ! V . : DR. COLLEEN S. COLTON BPW honors Dr. Colton inSLC Dr. Colleen S. Colton, Vernal elementary school prinicipal, was honored by the Utah Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Governor's Mansion in Salt Lake City. Dr. Colton was selected to receive the Woman of Achievement Award from the state organization, along with seven other women from throughout the state. Dr. Colton was nominated to receive the award by the Vernal Chapter of the BPW, and was selected as a regional nominee. She was selected to receive the award based on her outstanding contributions to community, for service in several state organizations and committees, and for her work within her profession. Dr. Colton has taught elementary school, junior high school, senior high, and worked as a school counselor. She was formerly the director of curriculum and instruction for the Uintah School District, and is presently principal of Discovery Elementary. She is the wife of H. Maughan Colton, a Vernal rancher, and they have three children, Kim, Kellie and Shawn. Also attending the reception at the newly restored Governor's Mansion from Vernal were Pear! Shaffer, Betty Zeller, and Lawrence and Rhoda DeVed. |
