Show gdsitqI Ss-jDmi TTmjaly Uintah County residents will vote on 11 political, four non-partisan offices, four propositions for changes in the Utah Constitution and two initiative proposals to change laws in the official general election Tuesday, Nov. 4. Nine Uintah County candidates will be voted for in the general election. For State Representative District No. 68 representing Uintah and Daggett Counties, Gayle F. McKeachnie. Republican, faces Corey William Grua, . Democrat. For four year county commissioner, Roland Merkley, Republican, faces Dan Coney, Democrat.Tor two year commissioner, Neal H. Domgaard, Republican, faces Robert M. Young, Democrat. All Republicans are incumbents. In the Uintah School District board member election in Precinct No. 4 which includes Tridell, Ft. Duchesne, Avalon-Willows, Whiterocks, Ballard, lapoint and Gusher voting districts. D. Blayne Morrill faces incumbent Max K. Toda. In School District No. 5 which includes Southeast Vernal, South Vernal, South Central Vernal City, Southwest Vernal City and Vernal City South voting districts, Gary B. Taylor, incumbent, is unopposed. On the national level there are nine candidates for president and vice president presi-dent of the United States on the ballot. Four candidates are running for U.S. Senator and two for District No. 1 U.S. Representative. On the state level candidates for governor are: Bob Wright (R), Scott M. Matheson (D), Lawrence R. Topham (A). For Secretary of State-Lt. Governor, David Smith Monson (R) faces Moroni L. Jensen (D). For Attorney At-torney General David L. Wilkinson (R) faces James R. McConkie (D). For State Auditor W. Val Oveson (R) faces Linn C. Baker (D). For State Treasurer Kdward T. Alter iR) faces Leonard W. McDonald (D). In non-partisan positions for the Supreme Court Justices, I. Daniel Stewart, incumoeni, taces Earl S. Spafford. In the State School Board election Karl Shisler is unopposed. Election polls will open at 7 a.m. and will remain open Tuesday until 8 p.m. To vote, a person must be registered in his precinct voting district. Anyone who voted in the last primary or general election is automatically registered. Voting information, helpful to voters, has been published in this issue of the Vernal Express. On page 29 is a listing of voting districts with locations, on page 28 is a sample ballot reproduction, on pages 30 and 31 are pictures and short statements concerning each political candidate. For the September primary election Uintah County had 7774 registered voters. In the 1978 primary, 6,675 were listed as registered voters. |
