Show UTAH HARVEST REPORT GIVEN As mid-August rolls around harvesting shifts in Utah from grains to truck crops and fruits, with cantaloupes, carrots, celery, potatoes, peaches and pears roll- expected. Onion harvest will not start before be-fore mid-September. Condition of crop is reported spotty . . some good, some bad. The second cutting of alfalfa is nearing completion in most jareas with fair to good tonnage reported. Quality is considerably better than the first cutting. Alfalfa Al-falfa seed prospects are fair to good. Lygus bug population is reported heavy in Cache county stands. 4 mg into markets. , Apricot and cherry harvest is complete, according to a weekly weather and crop report issued by the U. S. Bureau of Agricultural economics. About 190 cars of apricots apri-cots were shipped this year, compared com-pared with 98 last year Cherry shipments amounted to 280 cars, compared with 237 last year. Peach and Pear harvest is in full swing in Washington county and rapidly gaining momentum in areas further south. Jubilee peaches peach-es are now on with early Elbertas due to follow around September 1. Heavy yeilds of excellent quality qual-ity are reported for the soft fruits. Celery harvest is expected to get under way within a week. Stands are uneven with a fairly high percentage of bolters. Yields will be less than last year generally, gener-ally, the statisticians predict. Carrot harvest getting under way in Utah and Sevier counties this. week. An excellent yield of good quality carrots is expected. Cantaloupes have been on the market mar-ket for some time and harvest of the commercial acreage will begin be-gin about Aug. 23.
