Sponsors Trade At Home Campaign "Back To School" Day Set Friday In Springville " a v Merchants Invite Townspeople To Visit Stores Where Complete Stocks Will Be Displayed; Parade, Free Shows, Other Events Planned Everything is in readiness for the higgest Back 1 o School Day celebration in the history of Springville, sponsored spon-sored by the retail merchants committee of the Chamber $of Commerce. This special day set aside by the merchants for townspeople to visit local stores and find out what can be purchased at home, is tomorrow, to-morrow, Friday, August 20. There will be a complete stock of fine merchandise available in every business establishment in Springville Spring-ville and bargains galore will await shoppers throughout the day. Many of the fine items of merchandise mer-chandise are listed in the Herald - today and everyone in Springville and Mapleton will receive a copy. Readers are ask to go over the advertisements carefully and then make it a point to spend the day shopping for everything needed for the family and home. A minature parade at 7:30 p. m. is to be one of the highlights of the day and several hundred boys and girls are expected to participate par-ticipate in this event There will be several sections in the parade, namely for children from 5 to6 years; 6 to 8 years; 9 to 11 years and 12 years and over. There will be three prizes for each division and every child who takes part in the parade will also get a prize. Members' of the committee today to-day are asking every boy and girl in town to get their minature float or pet or hobby ready for marching in the parade. Girls can bring their dolls and doll buggies and boys can bring their wagons and other play equipment decorated decor-ated especially for the occasion. All will receive a prize. The parade will assemble at 1st East on 4th So. and all traffic will be directed down 1st East. Stores will remain open until the parade begins. During the day, parents visiting the stores will be given free tickets for their children to attend either picture show during the afternoon and the merchants committee com-mittee points to the fact that while the children are at the show, the parents will have a chance to shop and see what local business houses are offering for this special event. The merchants- are making a sincere effort to have a complete line of all merchandise and many special items on sale during the day. Asisting the Chamber of Commerce Com-merce with the parade arrangements arrange-ments are the Jaycees and Jaycee wives, who will help to line up the event and act as judges and distribute prizes. |
